PRODUCTS RANGE
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
INFO

Product Description:
The breakthrough in gloss laminate technology is finally here. Merino introduces MR+ Tuff Gloss Laminates. This stunning range of super gloss laminates is resistant to scuff and mar abrasions, making them ideal for use in places where your creativity gets restricted for want of a better surfacing material.

What is MAR resistance?
The ability of a surface to resist permanent deformation or mini scratches, resulting from the application of a dynamic mechanical force.

Advantages:

  • Refers to the light surface damages
  • They are usually shallow & narrow
  • Single MAR may not be readily noticeable
  • The existence of a group of such MARs visibly degrades the appearance of surfaces

Advantages:

Mar Resistance – MR + Tuff Gloss Technology gives excellent mar resistance thereby maintaining the gloss level three times longer than ordinary High Gloss laminate. Lab results show 95% gloss retention after being scrubbed with calibrate as per procedure defined by ASTM D 6037 – 96 (2008)
Abrasion Resistant – MR+ Tuff Gloss Technology gives 2 to 3 times better abrasion resistance than ordinary high gloss laminate
Gloss Level – The Gloss meter reading of MR+ Tuff Gloss Laminate is over 110 when tested at 60° angle whereas other gloss laminates have 80 gloss meter reading when tested at 60° angle
Impact Resistant – Special top layer along with the buildup gives better impact resistance thereby protecting the surface from falling objects
It is 100 % safe to use in kitchen as it is non-toxic and non-porous
Highly Decorative – Wide range of attractive solid colours, wood grains & design patterns to choose from
Colour Fast – Colour is resistant to Xenon light
Resistant to Heat – Can withstand a temperature of 180° C, making it ideal for use in kitchen applications
Stain Resistant – MR+ Tuff Gloss Laminate is resistant to stain and shows better results as compared to other high gloss laminates

FABRICATION

High Pressure Laminates should be properly conditioned to the ambient conditions of the surroundings before they are used. For example, High Pressure Decorative Laminates and the substrate need at least 48 hours to get acclimatized. Provision should be made for the circulation of air around the components.

Recommended conditioning temperature is about 24°C. Laminates should be conditioned at 45% to 55% relative humidity.

Care & Maintenance

Storage:
MR+ Tuff Gloss laminate Sheets should be stored horizontally with the top sheet turned face down and a thick hard board placed on top to protect the material from possible damage and reduce the chances of getting warped. Stored laminate stock should be rotated such that older sheets will be used first. Laminate sheets should be protected from moisture, and should never be stored where they may come in contact with the floor or outside wall. Always carry sheet vertically. Never slide the sheet but, lift it while moving it from one place to another. We recommend that ideally two people should carry a full size sheet as carelessness can damage the decorative surface. The protective film should not be removed unless the job is complete.

Cleaning:
Clean the surface gently with a clean, damp soft cloth. Do not use brushes or scourers at any time.

Maintenance:

Abrasives: Abrasive pads, scouring powders or cleansers may permanently damage the laminate surface making it susceptible to staining
Harsh chemicals: Harsh chemicals such as oven cleaner, toilet cleaner, or drain cleaner will etch and discolour the decorative surface. High Pressure Decorative Laminates are not designed to resist continual contact with these chemicals. If any of these products spill over the surface remove immediately, rinse thoroughly, and wipe dry
Hot objects: Even though HPL has high heat resistance, exposure to temperatures greater than 135°C is not recommended. Hence, do not place hot frying pans or dishes directly from the oven or cooktop on the laminate surface. As a precaution, protect the surface from heat generating appliances such as pressing irons, toasters, curling irons and electric cookers by using a trivet or insulated pad. Prolonged exposure to temperatures above 65°C may result in separation of the laminate from the substrate
